Live Homework Help

Powered by Tutor.com, this free service allows students to receive homework help from a live tutor via the Internet. The service is available every day for students in 4th-12th Grade from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm. (Spanish-speaking tutors are available for math and science questions Sunday through Thursday from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm.)

NOTES:

• Tutor.com, and all Live Homework Help programs, will be closed on January 1, New Years Day, so that staff and tutors may celebrate the holidays with their family and friends.
  
  
• Effective December 1st, you will be required to enter a patron barcode number to access this service from outside the library. Your patron barcode number is on the back of your library card.

The tutors are certified teachers, college professors, professional tutors, graduate school students and undergraduates from top universities. Every tutor completes a rigorous training program and ongoing evaluation process, which includes meeting at regular intervals with a mentor who reviews his or her work. Tutors also attend professional development seminars to improve their teaching skills in the online environment. Every tutor must successfully complete a third party background check.

Live Homework Help is easy to use. Children and young adults simply log on to the Jacksonville Public Library Web site, follow the "Live Homework Help" link, enter their grade level and the subject they need help in and they are instantly connected to an expert tutor in that subject. Students can receive help in math, science, social studies or English.
