TEXSHARE DATABASES/LIBRARY OF TEXAS

The TexShare Database Program provides a wealth of electronic database resources to over 700 public, academic, and libraries of clinical medicine throughout the state at a significant cost savings. These electronic databases are powerful research tools available 24 hours a day in the homes or offices of registered patrons of participating Texas libraries. They provide full-text articles from journals, newspapers, magazines, and many other sources. Entire books can even be read while on-line. Database topics include homework help for students, health information, business information, biography and genealogy, as well as literature and archival information.

The Library of Texas is a service offered by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission that allows users to discover and retrieve desired information from multiple library catalogs, databases, and other knowledge collections. Texans no longer need to use a separate interface for each individual library or database. At present, the Library of Texas searches through the catalogs of 76 public libraries, 52 academic libraries, 4 unique libraries, and 17 TexShare commercial databases.

NOTE: Because the Library of Texas searches only 17 of the 26 databases available from TexShare, we recommend that patrons wishing to perform genealogical and historical research (including HeritageQuest Online and the Texas Digital Sanborn Maps) use the link to the TexShare Database Program.
