- Friends of the Library Book Sale October 1-3, 2010
The Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library will host their annual book sale from Friday, October 1, 2010 - Sunday, October 3, 2010 in the Library auditorium.
Friday, October 1st, is designated as "Friends Preview Day". Only those who volunteered and helped set up and/or work at the sale, and those who are members of the Friends of the Library will be allowed in to view and purchase books on this day.
Saturday, October 2nd, is the first day the sale is open to the public.
Sale hours will be as follows:
- Friday, October 1st: 10 am to 6 pm (Friends Preview Day)
- Saturday, October 2nd: 9 am to 5 pm (Public Sale)
- Sunday, October 3rd: 1 pm to 5 pm (Super Sale Day - 1/2 price sale OR $5.00 per box)
Setup for the sale will begin on Monday, September 27th. The Friends of the Library invites you to volunteer to help sort through the books and set up for the sale, or work the sale as assistants.
If you would like to volunteer or find out more information on becoming a Friend of the Library, please contact the Library Circulation Desk in person or by calling (903) 586-7664. Please notify us about when you can work by Friday, September 24th.
- Computer Classes scheduled for August 26th - September 23rd
The Jacksonville Public Library will once again be offering computer training classes for the general public. These classes are provided through the auspices of the Texas State Library’s Loan Star Libraries Program, and will be taught by David Anderson. David has been the instructor during the previous computer training classes at the Jacksonville Public Library.
THESE CLASSES ARE NOW FULL. The schedule will remain on this site until the final round of classes is over.
Classes will be held from 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm on the following dates:

- Library adds access to the Dallas Morning News Historical Archives
Access to the historical archives of the Dallas Morning News have been added to the "Online Resources" portion of the library's Website. A link is also available in the left-hand menu on all pages of the library's Website.
This online resource offers full-size reproductions of the Dallas Morning News from 1885-1977. To access the resource from within the library, simply click on the link from the menu or "Online Resources" portion of our Website. To access the databases from home, simply log in with the barcode number on the back of your library card.
- Friends of the Library Notecards Still Available
The Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library still have notecards available at the Circulation Desk. These attractive all-purpose cards feature a beautiful illustration of our library on the front with a blank interior so you can personalize them with your own information. A packet of ten cards with envelopes is $ 3.00. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library.
REMINDER: The Library Board meets the first Tuesday of every month at 5:15 p.m.
