eAUDIOBOOK FACTS
Here are some important facts to keep in mind about eAudiobooks:
- Audiobooks can be downloaded to your PC in two sizes. The smaller size is recommended for those with slower connections and can be played on your PC, but cannot be transferred to most portable media players. The larger size can be transferred to a portable media player after downloading. You will need Media Player 9 for Windows or later to transfer the eAudiobook to your player.
- Download times for an average 9 hour audiobook range from about an hour for a radio quality audiobook on a 56K modem to about 10 minutes for CD quality on a high-speed cable modem.
- Audiobook files work with some portable music players, portable media centers, pocket PCs, mp3 players, and many smartphones. They DO NOT work with iPods or Zunes because these players do not support the Digital Rights Management used to protect the files.
- Audiobooks are not divided into chapters. There are 3 ways to "save your place" when listening is interrupted:
- use the bookmark feature (on some higher-end mp3 players)
- use the off/on resume feature on many mp3 players
- note the elapsed minute on your mp3 screen and fast-forward to that point when you resume you listening.
- Your audiobook will work for 3 weeks and then stop working unless it is renewed online.
- You can have access to 10 audiobooks at a time.
- Audiobook files can not be burned to a CD.
- There is a wide selection of current, popular, and classic titles, with more titles being added each month.
